The idea of this blog became reality a little over a week ago on Friday. It was a brand new website with very little communication/ publicity going on, a few pictures, a couple short tributes, and huge hopes of success. My first surprise and first confirmation that this "project" might actually become successful came in the form of the first email from a fan named John Hartley. I was ever so pleased to open the email account linked to this blog and find his story and his family's photo with the McGruders waiting to be posted on this site.

He was the first fan to post his memories of Sis. McGruder and helped kick off this project to a great start. Today I was informed that we had made it to 200 visitors in the past week. In my mind, that is an awesome start to this project that is barely a week old. That allows me to know that progress is definitely being made.

So, please pass the word along of the site to your friends and people you know who love the McGruders. I'm hoping that before long, your memories of Sis. McGruder will begin to overflow the email account. My great desire is to see this thing blossom with expressions of gratitude for the McGruders. Please take a few minutes and add your story to the list of those who are paying tribute to such a wonderful lady!

According to the map that shows me where all the hits to the site are coming from, they are coming from Arizona, many places in Missouri (including Kennett), Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Maine, Canada, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Wyoming, England, and many other places that I can't remember. I know the fans are out there and are spending time here reading.....now if I could encourage you to get brave enough to get involved and make this site even more enjoyable to visit!

About Priscilla

Priscilla McGruder was the "First Lady" of the Southern Gospel group, The McGruders.

She was the beloved wife of the Rev. Carroll McGruder and the mother of three children: Eric, Shawnee, and Holly. It is reported that she has 6 grandchildren who adored her and lovingly referred to her as their "Nana."

Priscilla faithfully fought a battle of recurring cancer over the past few years. Her fight was finally won on April 29th. On this day, she was escorted from this life into the life she has sang passionately about for years.

She was a hero to me in the faith as well as many countless others. She along with her husband Carroll and their band have recorded many Gospel albums that have encouraged and inspired believers everywhere.

Her personality was one I'm sure that is coveted of many but was the direct result of hours and hours of prayer and dedicated study of the Word. I remember a concert I attended where Carroll spoke of a young lady who expressed her desire to become like Priscilla. His reply was, "when you're capable of spending the hours of prayer and dedication to spiritual matters as she does, then it may come." It was not a learned trait. It was a gift that came from personal sacrifice.....a sacrifice that few are willing to give.

About the Site

This site is dedicated to celebrating the life of Priscilla McGruder to the very fullest. I am not, nor is this site, connected in any way with the McGruders or with Zion Music Group. With saying that, I want it to be clear that I have the highest respect for Bro. Carroll McGruder and Kevin and Beverly McManus. The trio of names just mentioned have made Priscilla's success even greater than I'm sure she ever imagined.

So, in addition to the tributes that they've made, I wanted to take a little piece of the web, and express my gratitude to such a life as Priscilla's. I count myself at the top of the list of her biggest fans.

There will be the option to post a comment under many tributes, but I ask that if you comment, please write comments that are respectful. Anything less will be deleted. Once again, this site is solely for the expression of gratitude for the Life, the Love, and the Legacy of Priscilla McGruder.

Special Thanks

I would like to say a special thank you to Beverly McManus, first for being one of the kindest people I have had the privilege of communicating with. The pictures on this site, other than the fan photos, are used by permission from Beverly. Thank you, thank you , thank you! She had never met me, but was kind enough to be very prompt to respond to my emails. Beverly, I won't forget! Thanks again!

Secondly, tons of gratitude to two of my wonderful friends who have helped me tremendously in the making of this site .....Sony Elise and Brina Davis. Thanks you two!

To all of the writers, who have offered words of honor for one of my greatest heroes, I say thank you! This site would not exist, if it were not for you. Hopefully there will be plenty who follow you.
